TGIF! Another weekend is finally upon us, which means it’s of course time for our weekly gig guide. From Eurovision, to Publess Quizzes, and Blues Bands, there's something to suit everyone this weekend! Here's what's going down in some of our Fillit Spaces:
Love it or hate, the Annual Eurovision Song Contest Final is taking place this Saturday night and you best believe there are special events happening around it! The Sugar Club are hosting GCN’S annual super-camp ‘Douze Points Party’ which is always a sell out every year! You can watch the show live on the big screen, with expert commentary from eccentric host, Julian Mandrews. On the night there will be special booths consisting of 6 people. Each booth will represent one of the countries in the contest, there will even be ‘Patriortic Paraphernalia ‘available to help cheer your designated country along. Not only that, but there are also amazing prizes to be won throughout the night, by both the country that come top of the leaderboard and the losers at the bottom. Prizes include 6-weekend tickets to Body & Soul, A weekend for two at the gorgeous IceHouse Hotel and a 250 euro voucher for the Marco Pierre White Restaurant now if that ain't something to sing about! It’s all things Eurovision this weekend it seems! This Saturday Medley are hosting the IMpulse Eurovision Song Contest, where you can watch the contest on the big screen. There will be complimentary food provided by Medley, and a special Eurovision cocktail along with Live DJs after the festivities. Doors are from 7.30pm. You can pre book tickets here
This Saturday night Dublin based band Pursued by Dogs are launching their two track EP “A Tunnel | Whiskey Ruin” in The Workman’s Club, with support from MKAI. So if you fancy something non-Eurovision related, make sure you head down! Doors are from 8:00pm and there are still early bird tickets available here.
The Clockwork Door has become quickly become known as a ‘home away from home’ by many in Dublin City. As a cosy hangout space to chill with friends or meet new people, the guys are always hosting fun, alcohol-free events if you’re after something a bit more chilled out. This Saturday they are putting on a ‘Publess quiz’ where you and a team of four can put your heads together and test your wits. Throughout the nights the guys promise to text your knowledge in every topic, from the mundane to the bizarre. The quiz is free, although the venue is pay per minute, with a rate of €4.80 an hour. Don’t worry though, there will be plenty of prizes and refreshments throughout the night! For more info check out the event here
On Saturday Night Hot Spot Music Club are bringing you the best blues from the best blues band of musicians that Ireland has to offer. Band members include: Republic of Loose frontman, Mick Pyro, Guitar & Vocals, Mick has supported U.2., The Roots, Ian Brown, The Neville Brothers, Guns n Roses, Snow Patrol etc. On keyboards, James Delaney, who has played with Sharon Shannon and Van Morrison.
