New Year, New Fillit

Although it hasn’t been a full year since Fillit launched, it’s been a big enough year that we are feeling sentimental and ready to reflect. Starting when we kicked off the training wheels on our site and platform (our beta phase), we take a look at some of our stand-out moments of 2016.

April, May, and June (BETA)

After we built our backbone and messaging service, our big push was to approach landlords and get an idea of how to build a platform to accommodate their needs. We talked to hundreds of landlords, and, in the process, listed hundreds of spaces. In the process, many start using Fillit in new, unique ways (including commercial shoots). The insight we gained shaped Fillit’s development, and we’re still implementing many of your suggestions and features today.

With hundreds of spaces and the support of many foundational beta testers in our community, we cut the ribbon and revealed Fillit to the world with a big bash. We used one of our own Fillit spaces to host the party (watch the case study and transformation), and it was a roaring success. You all helped us trend in Ireland and got our name out to the world, and made enough noise to get Fillit spotted by Irish media. Since the party, we’ve been featured on radio, newspaper and online. You’ll be hearing our name a bit more in 2017.

After the word was out, many in the creative community begin seeing potential in Fillit and kick around innovative ideas. In August, Mindaugas Petrutis of Sketch Labs used Fillit to book The Sugar Club for the Dublin debut of Design Disruptors and host panels for the creative community. While this was happening, we were collecting feedback and kickstarting some feature designs of our own, orientated at better accommodating multiples space enquiries.

Fillit becomes a popular source for meetings, corporate gigs and company off-sites. Wrike used Fillit to find a space that reflects their company culture, and host a unique off-site gathering with great coffee and cocktails.

Did you see some big changes on South William Street in October? Neon Agency used Fillit to transform one of our spaces to create a pop up experience for Fulfil. Later in the month, we were official partners with Uprise and helped them source a sweet spot for their afterparty. Finally, we rolled out big changes including SMS notifications, a shopping cart to enquire about multiple spaces at once, and changes to our billing system in order to accomodate renters and landlords who prefer on-site visits before sealing the deal.

Our November was crazy-packed with pop-ups, events and fundraisers in aid of Movember. This year, we were the official Major Partner of Movember, and many of our landlords stepped up in big ways to support the cause. Read our Movember wrap-up here.

December kicked off with some excitement, when our Creative & Digital Director, Gianni, accepted the Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown award for Best Start-Up Business from Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur 2016. Next up: the Dublin regional finals! These holidays have been an opportunity for us to look back on the year and reflect on what we’re doing right. We have big ideas, and we’re excited to bring you along for the ride in 2017.

And that’s just a taste of the madness from 2016.

New Year, New Us?

Actually, the plan is to continue the course. We’ll be the same Fillit, but with some big upgrades to the overall usability of the site to make it easier for you.

Our 2017 resolution, and promise, is to continue using customer feedback to build the best user experience and create the best solutions for your business.
